| 1 | THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROPRIOCEPTION, KINESIOPHOBIA, BALANCE, AND SENSORY PROFILE WITH FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY AFTER GONARTHROSIS SURGERY PF:2 Related Papers Related Patents Related Grants Related Experts Highlight: This observational study aims to investigate the relationships between proprioception, causes of kinesiophobia, sensory processing characteristics, and functional recovery in individuals undergoing gonarthrosis surgery. Postoperative functional recovery can be influenced by sensorimotor and psychological factors such as impaired proprioception, fear of movement, and changes in sensory processing. However, the interaction between these factors has not been sufficiently clarified. Participants will complete a sociodemographic and clinical information form, the Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the Causes of Kinesiophobia Scale, and the Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile. Proprioception will be assessed using the Joint Position Perception Test. |

Recent evidence suggests the Inferior Parietal Lobule (IPL) serves as a neuroimmune hub linking central neural activity with peripheral immune dysregulation. In a prior feasibility study, a single L-IPL-targeted TMS session reduced pain and altered immune signalling in inflammatory arthritis by reducing STAT3 phosphorylation in circulating monocytes. This study builds on those findings by evaluating whether rTMS over 4 weeks can induce sustained immune reprogramming while providing meaningful pain relief. |

| 146 | Evaluation of The Neuromodulatory Effects of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Pain in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients: A Double Blind Randomized Controlled Trial PF:3 Related Papers Related Patents Related Grants Related Experts Highlight: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a common condition that causes long-lasting knee pain and difficulty with daily activities. Many patients have pain that is stronger than expected from joint changes because the nervous system becomes more sensitive to pain. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique that uses a small electrical current applied to the scalp to help reduce pain sensitivity. This study will test whether active tDCS over the primary motor cortex can reduce pain and improve function in people with knee osteoarthritis. A total of 102 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either active tDCS or sham (placebo) stimulation. All participants will receive 15 sessions over three weeks. We will measure pain intensity, pain sensitivity, physical function, depression, cognition, and quality of life before the treatment, after the 3-week treatment program, and again at the 1-month follow-up. |

The research design is a randomized clinical trial with factorial design This randomized clinical trial of 254 patients using a factorial design will leverage a clinical trial platform developed through the University of Pennsylvania that allows for the remotely capture important patient-reported outcomes and other interaction through a participant’s smart phone. The investigators will randomize participants to receive social incentives with gamification to promote adherence to prescribed exercises as well as maintenance of greater levels of physical activity and compare to controls that receive a Fitbit but no additional incentive. Participants may also be randomized to receive a health coach. The investigators will utilize mobile applications for smart phones and wearable activity trackers through the Way-to-Health platform and assess, in real time, the impact of the interventions on patient-reported function and pain (as measured by the Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score) as well as physical activity. Participants will be followed for 2 years, with a total of 5 in-person visits. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the most prevalent and disabling conditions among Veterans and accounts for high morbidity and high costs for the VA. Importantly, while physical therapy is valuable for patients with KOA, lack of adherence to home exercises and low overall physical activity limit the durability of response. Determining potential disturbances in the levels or functions of these parameters may in the future contribute to improving treatment – for example, through supplementation of deficient metals or modulation at the immunological level. The main question it aims to answer is: Are selected rare metals, … |

The goal is to evaluate whether using patient-specific 3D-printed surgical guides improves the accuracy of the bone cut compared with the conventional technique performed with anatomical landmarks and fluoroscopy. A total of 50 adult patients will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: conventional osteotomy or osteotomy assisted by patient-specific instrumentation (PSI). The main outcome is the accuracy of the osteotomy cut, … |

A Randomized, Parallel, Placebo Controlled, Triple Blind Clinical Trial (AGARTROSIS) PF:2 Related Papers Related Patents Related Grants Related Experts Highlight: Joints-comprising bone, cartilage, ligaments, and synovial fluid-enable stable daily movement but may deteriorate with age, excess body weight, overuse, injury, or disease. Such degeneration, common from age 40 onward, underlies joint disorders like osteoarthritis, particularly in the knees, hips, hands, and spine, and is a major cause of chronic pain and disability. While antiinflammatory analgesics remain the standard approach to symptom control, they neither cure disease nor regenerate cartilage and can produce significant long-term adverse effects (gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, and cardiovascular). These limitations motivate interest in natural or complementary strategies with safer profiles. Within this context, marine algae, … |
