| 1 | Quantitative 3D UltraSound Brain Imaging: Development of New Bedside Biomarkers to Better Predict Neurodevelopmental Outcomes in Preterm Infants PF:3 Related Papers Related Patents Related Grants Related Experts Highlight: Prematurity is a leading cause of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) tightly associated with white matter damage, including punctate white matter lesions (PWMLs). Hence, an improved detection of brain injury early in life in infants born very preterm is a top priority to predict NDDs and therefore to assess potential neuroprotective strategies and implement early interventions. 3D and quantitative tools at the bedside using ultrasound are expected to better detect and quantify not only PWMLs but also other brain structures with promising prognostic value to predict NDDs at 2 years of age. |

The study will compare two commonly used sedative medicines with a saline control. It will also examine the safety of these medicines and explore how brain electrical activity during recovery may relate to later behavior changes. The main questions this study aims to answer are: * Does intranasal dexmedetomidine given before anesthesia lower negative postoperative behavioral changes seven days after surgery in children with autism spectrum disorder? * Does intranasal esketamine given before anesthesia lower negative postoperative behavioral changes seven days after surgery in children with autism spectrum disorder? * Are there differences in postoperative agitation, pain, and sedation quality among the three groups? Researchers will compare dexmedetomidine, esketamine, and saline to see whether either medicine works better than saline in reducing postoperative behavior changes. Participants will: * Be randomly assigned to receive intranasal dexmedetomidine, intranasal esketamine, or intranasal saline about thirty minutes before anesthesia * Undergo their planned surgery with standard general anesthesia care ③ Be assessed for behavior changes at three, seven, and twenty-eight days after surgery ④ Have routine monitoring of recovery, pain, agitation, and safety outcomes during and after surgery |

| 55 | A Pharmaco-Imaging Trial of Mixed Amphetamine Salts for The Treatment of ADHD in Intellectually-intact Youth With Autism Spectrum Disorder PF:3 Related Papers Related Patents Related Grants Related Experts Highlight: The investigators are conducting a 10-week brain imaging and medication study. They are doing the research to study the response of Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on extended-release formulation of mixed amphetamine salts (MAS) (also know as Adderall XR). The investigators also want to find out if taking MAS has any effect on the brains of children and adolescents with ADHD and ASD. This study will help researchers better understand how the use of MAS to treat ADHD effects children and adolescents with ASD. The investigators will compare MAS to a placebo. The placebo will look exactly like the MAS capsules but will contain no MAS. During this study, participants may get a placebo instead of MAS. Placebos are used in research studies to see if the study results are due to the study drug or due to other reasons. Participants with ASD and ADHD will complete 4-weeks of treatment with the study medication or placebo. They will complete bi-weekly study visits virtually via a telemedicine platform with the study doctor and complete questionnaires. On alternating weeks, they will meet with a Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) study team member to discuss medication adherence and potential side effects. Participants will have the option to attend all study visits in-person if participants prefer. They will also complete baseline and endpoint Magnetic Resonance (MR) scan visits at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During the MR Scan visits, they will complete a series of tasks to measure inattention, impulsivity, reward sensitivity, decision-making, and working memory. Participants without ADHD or ASD will complete eligibility screening with MGH. If eligible, they will be invited to baseline and endpoint MR scan visits at MIT. During the MR Scan visits, they will complete a series of tasks to measure inattention, impulsivity, reward sensitivity, decision-making, and working memory. |

| 198 | Assessment Of Spinal Posture, Balance And Ankle Muscle Shortness İn Children With Autism PF:2 Related Papers Related Patents Related Grants Related Experts Highlight: The aim of this study is to evaluate spinal posture, mobility, balance and ankle muscle shortness in children with autism. The study will feature two groups, * First group will consist of children with autism * Second group will consist of typically developing children Childhood autism assessment scale will be completed with the families of the children included in the study. The tiptoe walking status of the children participating in the study will be observed and classified according to the tiptoe walking classification. Children’s balance skills will be evaluated with pediatric berg balance test and timed get up and walk test, ankle muscle shortness will be evaluated with Gastro-Soleus shortness measurements, spinal posture and mobility will be evaluated with spinal mouse. The evaluation results of both groups will be compared. The main questions this study aims to answer are: * Is spinal mobility decreased in children with autism compared to typically developing children? * Is Thoracic kyphosis greater in children with autism compared to typically developing children? * Are Balance skills poorer in children with autism compared to typically developing children? * Does the severity of tiptoe walking increase as gastro-soleus muscle shortness increases? |
